What is Silk

Silk is a natural protein fibre, composed mainly of fibroin, produced by the larvae of the mulberry silkworm to form cocoons. It is the only natural filament fibre — each cocoon can yield a single continuous thread hundreds of metres long — which is why silk is smoother, stronger and more lustrous than any spun fibre. The finest silk comes from mulberry-fed silkworms, and it is the fibre behind every SilkTwillScarf.
